Sądecki Ethnographic Park is one of the loveliest open-air museums in Poland. The local objects represent building art and culture of all ethnic groups once living in the area of Nowy Sącz: Lachy, Highlanders, Pogórzanie and Lemko. A Roma people settlement is an interesting site. Walking around the extensive grounds of the museum, among the trees, past roadside shrines and crosses, we can feel like living in a real village. Adjacent to the cottages fenced wooden fences, we see wells, flower and vegetable gardens, orchards, beehives and fields. Cottage rooms are furnished with old furniture and crockery and adorned with traditional decorations. Children’s curiosity is aroused when visiting the rural farms and the interior of the old school – where they can see benches, teaching aids and school supplies. During the summer outdoor events, you can see presentations of old arts and crafts and rituals. A Galician Town is located nearby, with the market, town hall and houses of small-town craftsmen. Craftsmen’s workshops come alive especially during events organised in the Town. Then you can see the work of a tailor and potter, have your photo taken by a photographer, send a letter from the old-time post office or do some shopping in the pastry shop.
